WHEN DO I NEED TO PLACE MY ORDER?

Please place your order by 10am for same day dispatch.

DO YOU CATER TO SPECIFIC DIETARY REQUIREMENTS?

Gluten Free - Everything we produce is gluten free - we have absolutely no gluten at any of our sites. 

Vegetarian - We have a number of vege options, just use the search function to sort by 'vegetarian' options.

Vegan - We have a number of vegan options, just use the search function to sort by 'vegan' options.

Dairy Free - We have a variety of dairy free options too. Simply use the search function to sort by 'dairy free' options. 

ALLERGIES:

We do not have gluten on site in our production kitchen, however we cannot completely guarantee that items have not been contaminated prior to arriving at H&T (e.g a spice may contain traces of an allergen due to its manufacturing line).

Food labels show if a food item is dairy free (DF), Vegetarian or Vegan.

FOOD QUALITY:

At Hammer & Tongs we pride ourselves on providing a hearty, nutritious, tasty meal that is ready to go. We focus on local, ethical and seasonal ingredients and eliminate anything that is not required (colourings, flavourings, additives, thickeners, sugars, sulphites etc).  We do not rely on flavour boosters, instead we opt for fresher flavours using herbs and spices, traditional recipes and longer cooking times to increase flavour and nutrition.

We prepare fresh meals daily in our Silverdale kitchen and cook using local and seasonal ingredients where possible. All of our chicken, eggs, pork and bacon is free range (as it should be) and we believe in eating nose to tail for health, ethical and environmental reasons.

ENVIRONMENT:

We are very conscious of our effect on the environment and do our utmost to reduce our impact. Most of our containers are compostable (not just recyclable) and are oven, microwave, fridge & freezer safe (excluding PET /clear lid). Please re-use/recycle any plastic containers. Compostable vacuum sealed bags coming soon!!!

We also use a compostable wool insulation product to deliver your meals to you, while keeping them safe. Please re-use the box, insulation & gel ice packs, or return it to us by using the pre-paid return label that comes with your delivery.

HOW DO I HEAT MY HAMMER & TONGS MEALS?

It's up to you, some people like the convenience of the microwave while others are happy to wait a little longer and pop it in the oven. 

Microwave:

Remove any clear PET lid, and simply heat through until piping hot.  We cannot tell you exactly how long to heat as it depends on your microwave’s power. As a guide, we recommend you microwave on high for 2-4 minutes, stirring every minute or so. If frozen, add an additional 1-2 minutes. Please remove items that arrive in a vacuum sealed bag and put them in a microwave safe dish before heating.

Oven: Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius.

Most of our containers are compostable and are oven, microwave, fridge & freezer safe (excluding PET /clear lid). You can heat directly in these containers, just remove the clear lid first. 

If in a plastic container, or vacuum sealed bag, please remove contents from the plastic container or vacuum sealed bag and place into an ovenproof dish, preferably with a lid to prevent drying out. Some dishes may require a little water added to prevent them from drying out (e.g Pork Belly or other meat without sauce). Place in preheated oven for 10-20 minutes or until piping hot. If the meal is frozen, defrost prior to heating.

Tins can go straight in the oven; just remove the cardboard lid first.

Safety First:

Please be careful when removing items from the oven or microwave.

All food should only be reheated once and it should be reheated to a minimum internal temperature of 75 degrees celcius. For an accurate reading, use a probe thermometer. If the meal has not reached an internal temperature of 75 degrees celsius after following the instructions, continue to cook until it is appropriately heated. If in doubt, heat until piping hot.

FRESH OR FROZEN?

This is up to you - some people prefer their items chilled and ready to heat & eat straight away while others like to have a supply in their freezer for those unexpected moments.

CAN I FREEZE MY HAMMER & TONGS MEALS?

Absolutely. Most of our meals are great to keep in the freezer - all the meats, lasagnes, curries, soups & potato items freeze really well. Perfect for a meal in a hurry or for those unexpected guests!!  

HOW DO I ORDER?

Browse our store using the search button or search by category. Add items to the cart then head to checkout.

HOW DO I PAY?

When you get to the checkout, you’ll be asked to enter your payment details – we accept Visa, Mastercard & Amex debit/credit cards, as well as PayPal & Shopify Pay. 

CAN I PICK UP?

Yes! Place your order online and when you get to the shipping method page choose 'pick up' from either Silverdale or Rosedale. This will be free. It may pay to check with the team when your order will be ready. Send a message via our facebook messenger page for the quickest response.

WHERE IS PICK UP?

Silverdale - 12 Silverdale Street, Silverdale (opposite the Bendon store)

Rosedale - Unit 12, 65 Paul Matthews Road, Rosedale (we are at the back of the building so turn off Paul Matthews Road onto Saturn Place and take the the first driveway on the right. Go to the end of the carpark. We are the big roller door!)

WHERE DO YOU DELIVER?

We will deliver to the Auckland region commencing 10th September 2018 and will roll out to the rest of the nation soon thereafter - check out our facebook page for details.

HOW MUCH IS DELIVERY?

This depends on how much you order. We will update this page once we have more information from our couriers. Orders over $150 are free!

DO I NEED TO BE AT HOME TO RECEIVE MY DELIVERY?

The simple answer is no you do not need to be home to receive your delivery. Our products are delivered in a cardboard box that is fully insulated with an environmentally friendly wool liner and gel ice packs. These can keep your food safe for up to eight hours.

However, we recommend you get your items delivered to wherever you will be as this timeframe is weather dependent and will decrease in warmer weather.

Please refrigerate your items as soon as possible.

CAN I GET HAMMER & TONGS DELIVERED TO MY HOLIDAY DESTINATION?

Absolutely! And we highly recommend this - who needs to be cooking on holiday?!! Simply change your delivery address at checkout & add any special delivery instructions that may be required. It's a great idea to get Hammer & Tongs delivered to the snow, beach bach or boat!!

HOW DO I RECYCLE MY DELIVERY BOX & ICE PACK?

A return label will be included in your delivery. Simply stick this to the outside of your empty box and call the 0800 number on the box or leave it out on your next delivery day. 

Alternatively, refreeze the gel ice packs and pack up the box with food to take on your next adventure!
